From Ancestral File (TM), data as of 2 Jan uary 1996.

Meshack Turner III - His Wife Sarah Robey Tucker" by Lucille Rynard Maddox says Sarah Luckett was daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (

) Luckett. She was a sister of Samuel E., Thomas, Ignatius Luckett, and (possibly) Benjamin Luckett and Elizabeth Cooper.
Land Records Charles Co., MD, Vol O # 2, f 357.
Testamentary Proceedings, Vol 30, f 376.

THIS INFORMATION HAS COME UP TO DISPUTE THE ABOVE: Ignatius, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Hussey) Luckett was born 30 Jan 1689; brother Samuel was born 10 Oct 1685; and brother Thomas was born 12 Aug 1688. This from Book Q #1, containing Birth Records of Charles County, MD.
If Sarah was a Luckett, and since she was born cir 1668, this might make her a sister of the Samuel who was the father of the above named sons, but in any event, it looks as if she might have come from an earlier generation than those supposed to have been her brothers. Although she might have been a daughter from a previous marriage of Samuel. NONE OF THIS IS PROVEN, and included here as information only.

"Samuel's service from 1672 to 1677 pretty much lays to rest the notion that he married a woman named Sarah and had a daughter in 1670. Samuel left a will that does NOT mention any daughters or any Robey grandchildren."

Who were her parents/family?

Most researchers now try to graft her onto the Luckett family, but this comes across as contrived or forced adding another daughter before Samuel’s first known wife.

This fact lends some credence to the Luckett connection:

At the College of Southern Maryland special collections in La Plata, MD notes of Harry Wright Newman:
One question came up--I should have scanned it! In his typewritten notes on the Roby/Robey family, I think he speculated that the immigrant John Roby's wife Sarah Hines was not the daughter of Samuel Luckett as many think now (though unproven and questionable) but the daughter of a Michael Hinds, I think it was.

Could the son have been named after her father (Michael Hines/Hinds)?

The data for the early generations of this family are compliments of www.geni.com/people/Henry-Berry-Jr/4863786468680055312 and the pages associated with it. reconciled with freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mysouthernfamily/myff/d0035/g0000039.html#I69030 and including data from Belinda Rae Dickerson Szyszka's Tree as well as the author's Owens tree
The data on the immigrant William in New Hampshire seems rather questionable, because Plymouth Ma was founded in 1621 and Boston in 1628, and NH was settled mostly a generation later by settlers from MA. But a Virginian group may have ventured up the coast or another ship without a colony charter bound for MA may have landed there instead without getting into the history books. Pending revision from further investigation and/or DNA corroboration this data is added here.

I have a book on the ROBY'S, so I have a lot of information.
John Roby III b.1686, Maryland m. Sarah Berry 1713 b.cir 1695 d. May 22, 1777. John died about 1776 or a year or 2 earlier.
Children: John iv b.1714
Samuel b. 1716.
Her parents were Dr. Samuel Berry of Charles Co. Maryland. Mother unknown.

John Roby/Robey (1606) was the son of John Roby/Robey (1571) and Eleanor Beeny (all from Castle Donington).
That John (1606) and his son John (b. ca 1640) immigrated (when the son John was a boy) and settled in Maryland. The immigrants John and his son John were both married to a Sarah. I don't have any family for John the immigrant/father's wife (I have seen some say Berry). John the immigrant/son was married to Sarah Hines. "Sarah Hines Robey" was not a Luckett. We need to put that to rest.
I think it originated here:

Another source for the Luckett theory was here:
Charles County Land Records, Liber C#2 Page 156
"15 Feb 1709; Recorded at the request of John Roby; mark and heifer given to his son Peter Roby by Samuel Luckett"
But there is absolutely no conceivable way Sarah was previously married to Samuel Luckett (the dates couldn't work) nor is she his sister (the ages, dates, and everything we know about them says no--the Lucketts have written histories of their family, none of them claim Sarah Robey in any way). I think Peter Robey was Samuel Luckett's son-in-law and the heifer was the dowry (though Peter had no kids or wife when he died so she must have died before him, and there is no existing record of a wife).
Harry Wright Newman (noted Southern Maryland historian/genealogist, author of many of the authoritative books) thought Sarah was a Hinds/Hines (I think based basically on the naming pattern in the family of "Michael Hinds/Hines" Robeys).
I personally subscribe to this theory (there were Hinds/Hines families there then where she could have fit). Many other researchers (including some I respect immensely) argue she was a Berry; there was a Berry family there then where she could have fit.
"Samuel's service from 1672 to 1677 pretty much lays to rest the notion that he married a woman named Sarah and had a daughter in 1670. Samuel left a will that does NOT mention any daughters or any Robey grandchildren."
