Abt. 1647 New Haven Co., CT; Robert Talmadge b. 1622 Wherwell, Hampshire Co., England; Emigrated: 1630 from England to Lynn, Essex Co., MA with his parents and siblings; d. 03 OCT 1662 New Haven Co., CT. Burial places unknown.

NOTE (paraphrased): Robert's uncle, John Talmadge, left him a legacy when he died in 1640. Robert was one of the original purchasers of the New Haven Colony in 1639. Robert moved to New Haven and took the freeman's oath in 1644. When Robert died, he left a vast estate for his wife Sarah. Sarah was the daughter of Margery (nee Baker) and Thomas Nash.

NOTE: Sarah (nee Nash) and Robert Talmadge are my maternal great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents.

He distinguished himself in the burning of Schenectady, NY where his brother, Lt. Enos Talmadge was killed.

Burial places unknown. FOUR CHILDREN (All born New Haven Co., CT): Mary Talmadge b. 1682; Sarah Talmadge b. 25 OCT 1684; Mehitable Talmadge b. 13 DEC 1686; Thomas Talmadge b. 07 DEC 1688. NOTE: Enos is in Bradley's list of proprietors of New Haven Colony in 1685. He went to the defense of Schenectady in command of the assistance sent by CT. He was killed in the burning of the town by Indians on Feb 9, 1690. Enos' widow married Samuel Bishop on Nov 14, 1695.
