NOTE (paraphrased): Robert's uncle, John Talmadge, left him a legacy when he died in 1640. Robert was one of the original purchasers of the New Haven Colony in 1639. Robert moved to New Haven and took the freeman's oath in 1644. When Robert died, he left a vast estate for his wife Sarah. Sarah was the daughter of Margery (nee Baker) and Thomas Nash.

NOTE: Sarah (nee Nash) and Robert Talmadge are my maternal great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents.

Burial places unknown. SEVEN CHILDREN (All born New Haven Co., CT): Joseph Talmadge b. 02 DEC 1677; Enos Talmadge b. 13 APR 1679; Elizabeth Talmadge b. 05 OCT 1682; Robert Talmadge b. 1684; Jeminah Talmadge b. 1686; Keziah Talmadge b. 27 APR 1688; John Talmadge b. 11 APR 1692. NOTE: Thomas was one of the Proprietors of New Haven Colony in 1685. He was elected four times to the Town Legislature. He was a Sergeant and later a Lieutenant in the militia. He distinguished himself in the burning of Schenectady, NY where his brother, Lt. Enos Talmadge was killed.

Abt. 1645 New Haven, New Haven Co., CT; d. 29 DEC 1705 East Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Burial places unknown. TWO CHILDREN (Both born East Haven, New Haven Co.,CT): Mary Hotchkiss b. 01 JAN 1680; Samuel Hotchkiss III b. 06 MAR 1683.

4) John Talmadge b. 11 SEP 1654 New Haven, New Haven Co., CT; d. APR 1690 New Haven, New Haven Co., CT; m. 18 NOV 1686 New Haven Co., CT; Abigail Bishop b. 30 OCT 1658 Branford, New Haven Co., CT; d. 24 OCT 1710 Branford, New Haven Co., CT. Burial places unknown. Enos Talmadge b. 04 OCT 1656 New Haven Co., CT; d. 09 FEB 1690 Schenectady, Schenectady Co., NY; m. 09 MAY 1682 New Haven Co., CT; Hannah Yale b. 06 JUL 1662 New Haven, New Haven Co., CT; d. 10 FEB 1743/1744 New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Burial places unknown. FOUR CHILDREN (All born New Haven Co., CT): Mary Talmadge b. 1682; Sarah Talmadge b. 25 OCT 1684; Mehitable Talmadge b. 13 DEC 1686; Thomas Talmadge b. 07 DEC 1688. NOTE: Enos is in Bradley's list of proprietors of New Haven Colony in 1685. He went to the defense of Schenectady in command of the assistance sent by CT. He was killed in the burning of the town by Indians on Feb 9, 1690. Enos' widow married Samuel Bishop on Nov 14, 1695.
