Not the wife of Capt. John Woodward, Sr., of Newton

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bancroft-27

Sarah Bancroft was born on April 1, 1665[1], in Reading, MIddlesex, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Thomas Bancroft and Elizabeth Metcalf. [2]

She married John Woodward on July 7, 1686 as his second wife at Reading.[1] [2]

Sarah died on February 23, 1697 at Reading.

Mother of James Woodward, Sarah Woodward, Mary Woodward and John Woodward

Incorrect wife: Sarah Bancroft - The marriage of John Woodward and Sarah Bancroft was recorded on 7 July 1686 at Reading, Massachusetts. [5] This cannot be John Woodward of Newton, as one the location is entirely wrong and we know with certainty that he was still married to Rebecca Robbins who did not die until 1696. However, an article in the NEHGR did call him (incorrectly) John Woodward, son of George and Mary Woodward. [6] [7]
