A Patriot of the American Revolution for CONNECTICUT with the rank of SERGEANT. DAR Ancestor #: A065246

Revolutionary War Veteran. Connecticut Militia, 11th Regiment, Capt. Ingals's Company at Groten May ye 14th [1777] Amos Kinne [joined] May 17 Returned home 23 [from Reolutionary Muster Rolls published by the New-York Historical Society in 1914]
Amos & Esther came to Hanover about 1794. He was first in Lebanon, NH about 1791.
Amos Kinne's line is:
Capt. Amos7, Lt. Amos6, Thomas5, Thomas4, Henry3, John2, Sir Thomas1.
Sir Thomas Kinne was born in England in 1575.
He married about 1593: Elizabeth Howard.
According to the N.E. Genealogical Registry, he was knighted in October of 1618 for signal service rendered the Government. Other accounts say he was knighted for the use of his ships by Capt. Dawes.
Sir Thomas had a brother Charles who was mayor of King Lynn, Norfolk Co., England 1714-1715.
Charles, son Benjamin 1697-1757, became a British Consul to Spain.
Sir Thomas fled to Holland (Leyden) to escape religious persecution.
The original spelling was De Kenne, but it is also spelled Kene, Kinney, Keeney, Kenney, Keayne, and Canney, but they are all of the same family.
The original spelling in America was Keney. Thomas4 changed the spelling to Kinne.
Sir Thomas came to America about 1641 and died in New London, CT.
