Note: He was a Revolutionary War Soldier. He was a Sergeant of the Artillery from 1776 through 1780, Virginia State Line.
His first purchase of land was in 1764 in Granville County, NC. He bought 200 acres on Smith's Creek. His father and mother sold him 200 acres on September 29, 1763, also on Smith's Creek.
On February 25, 1765, he bought 100 acres on the south side of Rocky Branch from his sister and brother in law, Sarah and Leonard Webb.
He moved to Georgia in about 1785. On November 11, 1786, he bought 287 1/2 acres in Greene County, Georgia. In 1805 James paid taxes in Warren County Georgia in Captain Hill's District on 8 slaves, 250 acres of second class land in Warren County, and 300 acres of pine land on Cowpens Creek in Washington County, GA.
His will was proved January 4, 1808 in Warren County, GA.

In the Name of God amen I James Dozer Senr being in perfect health and Memory Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men Once to Dy Do make and ordain this my last will & Testament that is to say particularly & first of all I Give & Recomend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God that gave it & as touching worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to Bless me with in this I Give Demise & Dispose of in the following Manner of Form
First I Give and Bequeathe unto the Heirs of my son William Dozer Decd my Negroe man by the name of Joe which they have in possession. allso I Give and Bequeath unto my son John Dozer the Mind whereon he now lives and a Negroe Girl by the name Jenney & her Increas & one Feathe Bed & furniture
Item I Give & Bequeathe unto my son James Dozer Junr my Negroe Boy by the name of Ben with the Land he has now in possession Containing one Hundred Acres
Item I Give & Bequeathe unto my son Lennard Dozer a Negroe Girl by the Name of Lizey & the Land he had in possession and sold to his Brother John Dozer.
Item I Give & Bequeath unto my son Ths Dozer one Negroe boy by the name Primius & one hundred Acres of land whereon he now lives.
Item I Give & Bequeathe unto my son Richard Dozer a Negroe Girl by the name of Dice allso one Hundred acres of Land Begining at Gum Corner on the river adjoining of Joseph Evans Land. thence south to a pine Corner joining Evans Land thence Eastwardly to whiteside Creek thence Down sd Creek to a white oak Corner on the East side of sd Creek thence Eastardly to the River to a washos Corner thence up sd River to the beginlng Corner also one Bed & Furniture two Cows one sow & pigs half Dozen knives & forks one Dish half Dozen plates one pot.
Item I Give & Bequeath unto my son Woody Dozer the plantation whereon I now live at my Decease with all the remainder of my Land lyelng between whitesides Creek up kilgores Creek Except what I have given to my son Richard also my will is that my Beloved wife Mary shall have possession of sd plantation During her natural life I will Give to my son Woody Dozer one Negroe boy by the name of Hamblin one Horse & saddle one bed & furniture two Cows & Calves one sow & pigs half Dozen knives & forks one Dish half Dozen plates one pot.
Item I Give & Bequeathe to my Daughter Elizabeth Mo(cut off side of page) one negroe Boy by the name of Dave and the remainder of my Estate after my Decease, I leave to my Dearly beloved wife Mary Dozer During her natural life and at her Decease to be Equally Divided Between my Surviving children at time
I also nominate and appoint my two sons John Dozer and James Dozer Executers to rny last will and Testament, I Do hereby Acknowledge this to be my last will and Testement whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Day and year above writen. Signed: James Dozer (seal)
