Biographical Summary

"Sir Alexander Mackenzie, Baronet [S. 1673], of Coul, 1st s. and h. by 1st wife ; suc. to the Baronetcy in or before 1681, when his lands were erected into a free Barony, which, in 1702, he entailed on the heirs male of his body. He was M.P. [S.] for Ross-shire, 1692 till death in 1702. He ro. firstly, before 1673, Jean (b. 3 Jan. 1636, in Salisbury), 4th da. of Sir Robert Gordon, 1st Baronet [S. 1625], of Gordonstoun, by Louisa, da. and h. of John Gordon, of Glenluce, Dean of Salisbury. He in. secondly, Janet Johnstone, of Warriston. He d. 1702."
