George Preston was born in 1614 at Valleyfield, Fife, Scotland.[1] He was the son of John Preston and Grixel Coville.[1]

He married Marion Sempill, daughter of Hugh Sempill, 5th Lord Sempill and Lady Anne Hamilton, in 1634.[1]

He died on 26 November 1679.[1]
