Biographical Summary
"Sir John Cathcart, Baronet [S. 1704], of Killochan Castle, co. Ayr, s. and h. by 2d wife, b. probably about 1735 ; suc. to the Baronetcy, on the death of his father, to whom he was served, 1 Feb. 1766, heir male of entail and of provision general. He m. 24 Dec. 1764, Margaret, 1st da. and coheir of Robert Hamilton, of Bourtreehill, co. Ayr, which estate, as well as others, she inherited. He d. s.p., March 1783. His widow d. 25 April 1817, aged 73."
