Biographical Summary
"Sir John Cathcart, Baronet [S. 1704], of Carleton, s. and h., suc. to the Baronetcy about March 1723. He m. firstly, 6 July 1717, Katherine, da. of Robert Dundas, of Arniston, co. Edinburgh, a Lord of Session under the style of Lord Arniston. She d. s.p.s. He m. secondly, 30 May 1729, Elizabeth, sister (whose issue became coheir) to David, 10th Earl oy Cassillis [S.], 1st da. of Sir John Kennedy, 2d Baronet [S. 1682], of Culzean, by Jean, da. of Capt. Andrew Douglas, of Mains, co. Dunbarton. He, who was living Sep. 1746, d. before 1765."
