Biographical Summary
"Sir Andrew Cathcart, Baronet [s. 1704], of Killochan Castle, br. and h., b. about 1742; suc. to the Baronetcy, March 1783, and was served heir male of entail, 7 April 1784; was Lieut.-Col. in the army. On the death, 1792, of his maternal uncle, the Earl of Cassillis [S.], abovenamed, he claimed the Culzean estate under a settlement, 12 April 1743, of Sir John Kennedy, 3d Baronet [S. 1682], elder br. of that Earl, but he only obtained such estates as had been purchased by that Baronet. He d. unm. in 1828, in his 87th year. Will pr. Aug. 1828."
