According to Clan MacFarlane genealogy, Sir John Colquhoun of Luss and his second wife Margaret Cunningham had a daughter named Margaret who married Hugh Crawford of Kilbirnie. Clan MacFarlane and associated clans genealogy: Margaret Colquhoun This runs contrary to the genealogical account produced by William Fraser, which identifies the wife of Hugh Crawford of Kilbirnie as the "carnal daughter" of Sir John Colquhoun of Luss. Evidence from the National Records of Scotland

6 April 1498: Precept from the Chancery of King James IV, for infefting John Colquhoun of Luss and Elizabeth Stewart, his spouse in conjunct fee, in the £10 lands of Garthsquyb, and the mills thereof, in the earldom of Levenax and shire of Dumbarton, which lands and mills belonged to the said John Colquhoun heritably, and were resigned by him for new infeftment. Notes

(1) Sir John Colquhoun of Luss received the honour of knighthood from King James IV, and obtained a charter under the great seal of sundry lands and baronies in Dumbartonshire, dated 4th December 1506. On 11th July 1526 he and Patrick Colquhoun his son received a respite for assisting John, Earl of Lennon, in treasonably besieging, taking, and holding the castle of Dumbarton. He died before 16th August 1536. By his first wife, Elizabeth Stewart, daughter of John, Earl of Lennox, Sir John Colquhoun had four sons and four daughters; and by his second wife, Margaret, daughter of William Cunningham of Craigenda, he had two sons and two daughters.

(2) In 1513 Sir John Colquhoun of Luss purchased "the two merk lands of old extent of Tullichintaull from Robert Rose of Tarbat" [History of Clan Macfarlane Vol. II - manuscript by James Macfarlane; Chapt. 40]
