Death

A date and place of death has not been identified for Sir Oliver Sinclair of Rosslyn. He was alive on 12 July 1536, when he had a grant of the non-entries of half of the lands of Denys in the sheriffdom of Peebles and a gift of the office of Coroner in the same sheriffdom. NRS: GD32/20/8 but he died before 5 December 1537, when his widow Isabella Livingstone, lady Rossyln, gave her son Master Henry Sinclair the ten pound lands of Over Liberton and others. 12 July 1513: Notarial instrument whereby Robert Douglas of Lochlevin [Loch Leven] appoints William, Earl of Montrose and others as his procurators to receive the resignation of the south side of Dundaf hill in the barony of Dundaf and sheriffdom of Striueling [Stirling], from Oliver Sinclare [Sinclair] of Roslin and Isabella Levingstoun [Livingston], his spouse, and to grant a tack for 5 years of these lands to the said Oliver and Isabella, in terms of a previous reversion. Sir Oliver finished the Chapel of Roslin, as appears by his scutcheon in the vault, whereon there appears only a ragged cross, as also on the left hand of the window of the sacristy underground. He was thrice married: First, to Christian Haldane; [Stirling Protocol Book] secondly, to Elizabeth, daughter of William, third Lord Borthwick; and thirdly, to Isabella Livingstone.
