William Sinclair, 2nd Earl of Caithness (1459 – 9 September 1513) was a Scottish nobleman born in Ravenscraig Castle, Kirkcaldy, Scotland to William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness and Marjory Sutherland. He married Margaret Keith, daughter of Sir Gilbert Keith. He fought and died in the Battle of Flodden Field.

(The Battle of Flodden or Flodden Field was fought in the county of Northumberland in northern England on 9 September 1513, between an invading Scots army under King James IV and an English army commanded by Thomas Howard, Earl of Surrey. It ended in a victory for the English and a bloody defeat for the Scots and was the largest battle (in terms of numbers) fought between the two nations).

William and Margaret had two children:

- Alexander Sinclair

William Sinclair was the person reputed to have brought Enochian Magick to Scotland.

    William Sinclair, 2nd Lord Sinclair was the son of William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness and Lady Elizabeth Douglas. He married Christina Leslie, daughter of George Leslie, 1st Earl of Rothes and Christian Haliburton, circa 29 April 1458. He died circa 14 July 1487.

He was the eldest son but deprived of succession to the Earldom of Caithness and the territorial Barony of Rosslyn, however he still succeeded to the Lordship of Sinclair, Ravenscraig Castle, lands in Dysart and remained heir of line of the Earls of Orkney and name of Sinclair. In 1459 he got a charter of the lands of Newburgh through his wife. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Sinclair [S., 1449] before 1480. In 1482 he was ajudged incapable of managing his own affairs for 16 years past.

Donald Mackay, who died towards the close of 1550, married Helen, daughter of Alexander Sinclair of Stempster, [ In the reign of King James V., Alexander Sinclair of Stempster had a charter under the Great Seal, dated 2nd November 1529, as follows:—" Alexandro Sinclair de Stamster et Elizabeth Innis, suae sponsae, terrarum de Dunbeath, Rae, et Sandside, in Baronian Dunbeth." Reg. Mag. Siff. and Blk. MS.] second son of William, Earl of Caithness.
