'Rhys ap Griffith/Gruffydd FitzUryan (Fitz Vryon)

At the age of 23, Griffith Rice was beheaded by King Henry VIII for inscribing the name Fitzurien on his coat - of - arms. The king then confiscated all the vast possessions of the Ryce to his own use.

He married Katherine Howard, daughter of Sir Thomas Howard, Earl Marshal of England, 2nd Duke Norfolk, Sheriff of Norfolk & Suffolk and Agnes Tilney, circa 1525.1 Rhys ap Griffith FitzUryan died on 4 January 1532 at Tower Hill, London, Middlesex, England.

• 'Rhys ap Griffith was born circa 1508.3 He was the son of Sir Grufudd ap Rhys and Catherine St. John.2 He married Lady Katharine Howard, daughter of Thomas Howard, 2nd Duke of Norfolk and Agnes Tilney, before 1522.3 He died in 1531, beheaded for treason.4
