Biographical Summary

"Sir Thomas Moncreiffe, Baronet [S. 1685], of Moncreiffe, 1st s. and h., b. there 9 Jan. 1822 ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 20 Nov. 1830 ; sometime Lieut. 1st Foot Guards, retiring 1848 ; Lieut.- Col. Perthshire Militia, 1846 ; Lieut.-Col. Commandant (with rank of Honorary Colonel), 1855. He m. 2 May 1843, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Louisa, 1st da. of Thomas Robert (Hay), 10th Earl of Kinnoull, [S.], by Louisa Burton, da. of Admiral Sir Charles Rowley, G.O.B., 1st Baronet [1836]. He d. 15 Aug. 1879, at Moncreiffe house in his 58th year. His widow, who was b. 5 June 1825, d. 4 Sep. 1898, at Shllston house, near Leamington, co. Warwick, and was bur. at Moncreiffe, aged 73."
