Sir Walter Rockliffe Farquhar, 3rd Baronet

Biographical Summary

"Sir Walter Rockliffe Farquhar, Baronet [1796], 1st s. and h., b. in St. James' street, 4 June 1810 ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 12 Jan. 1836 ; was a partner in the Banking House of " Herries, Farquhar and Co." abovenamed. He purchased the estate of Polesden Lacy, near Dorking, co. Surrey, and was Sheriff of that county, 1859. He m. 28 Nov. 1837, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Mary Ootavia, 8th and yst. da. of Henry Charles (Somerset), 6th Duke of Beaufort, by Charlotte Sophia, da. of Granville (Leveson-Gower), 1st Marquess of Stafford. He d. 15 July 1900, at Polesden Lacy aforesaid, in his 91st year. Will pr. above £23,000 gross, the net personalty being nil. His widow, who was h. 16 July 1814, living 1905."
