1814: Squire grew to manhood in the southwestern Illinois frontier and married Polly Cox 8 Aug 1814, in Gallatin County Illinois (Gallatin Co Marriages). To obtain a marriage license, he would have needed to be at least 16 years old. Evidence indicates he was 17 at the time. Wm Cox lived next door to the Boren/Young family in Illinois and it is very possible that Polly was one of his daughters. Gallatin was just over the boarder from Union County.

1818: It is assumed that Squire's first wife, Polly, died before 1818 because he is listed as living alone on the 1818 census of Gallatin Co Illinois (FHL book 977.3X28i; 1818 Fed Census of Gallatin Co Illinois, page 113), NOTE: SQUIR YOUNG; one white male 21 years of age & upwards.

1820: Indications are that he was back home in 1820. The Illinois State Census of Johnson County 1820, page 130 lists WILLIS BOREN, two white males 21 years of age & upwards (Willis Boren & Squire Young), two white males under 21 (William & Alfred Young), 1 white female 21 and upwards (Mary Boren), and 4 white females under 21 (Elizabeth Young, Susannah Boren, Hulda Boren & Persada Boren).

1822: Squire Young may have been named after Daniel Boone's father or brother who shared the same given name. The Borens lived next door to the Boones and participated with Daniel in his explorations.Squire applied for a license to marry LUCINDA BOREN in Alexander County on 25 Feb 1822. The family bible states the marriage took place 28 Feb 1822 (Naida Young Standing family bible (naidasta@up.net)). Lucinda is believed to be a daughter of Hozea & Sarah Hathaway Boren. The 14 Oct 1879 St. George Temple ordinances performed by John William Young and Etha Linda Margaret Young Young (FHL film 170849, page 240) lists "LUCINDA BOREN, born Union Co Ill, relative to Etha Linda Young."
