Son of John Heard and Margaret McDonald Heard
He came to America in 1720 after taken care of his father affairs, 1737 Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania married Mary Catherine Faulkner and all of their sons were in the Revolutionary War. Stephen and his brother John and other members of the Heard family to settle on site (one mile from where Washington, Wilkes County, Georgia is today) on the last day of the year 1773 and on new year's day 1774 they began Cutting down the first trees to build a stockade fort it was called Fort Heard, After a few months Stephen became very sick and was taken back to Virgina his death was in Nov.
His nephew Col Stephen Heard & Governor b 1741 d 1815 was son of John Heard Jr & Bridget Carroll.
