About Susan Ellen Downey
American film producer Susan Levin was Co-President of Dark Castle Entertainment and Executive Vice President of Production at Silver Pictures, Joel Silver's production company until February 2009 when she stepped down to work more closely with her husband, Robert Downey Jr. The couple formed their own production house entitled "Team Downey."
Levin was born on November 6, 1973 in Schaumburg, Illinois to a Jewish family, where she graduated valedictorian from Schaumburg High School in 1991. Interested in pursuing a career in film production, Levin moved to California and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California School of Cinema/Television. She began her career at New Line Cinema, where she did uncredited production work on Mortal Kombat in 1995 and its 1997 sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, and spearheaded the development of the 1998 live action TV prequel, Mortal Kombat: Conquest.
She met Downey in 2002 on the set of Gothika, married the actor in August of 2005 in a Jewish ceremony. Their son, Exton Elias Downey, was born on February 7th, 2012 at 7:24 a.m. in Los Angeles and weighed in at 7lbs., 5oz.
