Susanna Fox

Susanna Fox appears in the 1841 census married to John, in Hautbois Magna in Norfolk, with children Robert, Charles, Jane and James, and young 10-year-old lodger Maria Deck living with them. This census lists them all as born in Norfolk. With the exception of Jane, none of the appear as readily identifiable people in subsequent census results, so the birth villages are unknown.

Hautbois (pronounced 'Hobbis') is a hamlet attached to the villages of Buxton and Lamas (sometimes spelt Lammas), and falls within the parish of Lamas.

There are no parish records for christenings of Charles and James, and only Benjamin of these baptised children apart from Robert and Jane shows up in any census records.

The only marriage records for a John Fox to a Susanna (Warne) is on 25 December 1824, at Heigham, a parish on the immediate west side of Norwich, some 10 to 15 km away. This could be these two, but is well after their first child was borns and is a distance from Hautbois.

If Susanna is this Susanna Warne, then the best fit for a Susanna Warne born in Norfolk, is christened in Norwich on 8 February 1795, daughter of George Warne and Mary Smith. This is based on FamilySearch records, which may be incomplete. So this is a best guess!
