Susan is the 8th child of Governor Thomas Nelson, Jr., and Francis Page is the 5th son of Governor John Page.

On April 10, 1835, Susanna wrote a letter to Lucy Calthorpe Smith Diggs, giving a biography of her mother, Lucy Grymes Nelson (1743-1830)(This letter is available in Colonial Williamsburg - Special Collections - Papers of Dr. Augustine Smith (post 1769-1805) of Yorktown, Virginia, a friend of Thomas Nelson, and of his daughter, Lucy Calthorpe Smith, who married Ralph Wormeley Digges).
