Susanna Truitt

116. Levi Truitt II, born Abt. 1775 in prob. Somerset County, Maryland.; died December 15, 1830 in Brush Creek, Macon County, NC. He was the son of 232. Levi Truitt I. He married 117. Susannah Morgan 1794 in Buncombe Co. NC.

     117. Susannah Morgan, born 1780 in Rowan Co., North Carolina; died Aft. 1860 in Macon County, NC. She was the daughter of 234. James Morgan and 235. Mary Davis. 

Notes for Levi Truitt II:

On 7 May 1798 - James Morgan, Sr. to Isaac Morgan, both of Rowan County, 140 acres, where said James Morgan, Sr. now lives, on 

the north side of the old line near the said Isaac Morgan's spring branch, 40 steps from Elijah Morgan, in the hallow, next to James 

Morgan's spring branch, old 9 acre field, west end of the land next to Levi Truitt, for 50 lbs. (Rowan County Deed Book 16:page 250) 

LEVI TRUITT born about 1775 and died 15 Dec. 1830 in Macon County, NC. He married SUSANNA MORGAN, daughter of JAMES and MARY DAVIS MORGAN, Susanna was b. 1780 in Rowan County, NC and died after 1860 in Macon County, NC. Their son, ISAAC TRUITT left Macon County for Texas in 1839. (Truax message posted on Rowan County Queries, 1997)
The original Truitts were inhabitants of France. Some of them came to England with William the Conqueror in 1066 AD and some came to England because of religious persecution. These

Truitts were French Huguenots. "Huguenot" was the name given to the people in France who became Protestants during the reformation. When they moved to England, they spread to 

Scotland and Ireland. Therefore the Truitts are considered to be of Scotch-Irish and English stock, as were the majority of people who settled the Appalachian Mountain regions of North 

Carolina. 

Levi purchased land on Four Mile Branch in Rowan County, North Carolina and in 1800 was on the Rowan County census. They then moved to Rutherford County, North Carolina. Next

the family bought land in Buncombe County, North Carolina. He later owned land in the North Fork, Swannanoa River area. The Truitts were members of the Brush Creek Baptist Church. It is said that Levi took care of the Rev. Humphrey Posey's horse while the reverend preached.

 58 i.   John Wesley Truitt, born Bet. 1807 - 1808 in Burke Co., NC; married (1) Cynthia Miller 1827 in Haywood Co., NC; married (2) Frankey Megahey November 19, 1853. 

  ii.   Isaac Truitt, born 1803.
