For what bit of information about James Morgan [and molly/Mary Davis], that was contained in the package of information on Bessie Parr, his service record was not there. Going back into my ‘stash of stuff’ – found this about James Morgan. Research was done by Shirley Wright Bishop – whom I trust implicitly as a researcher for the Wright/Morgan/Parr lines:

James Morgan, Sr, born circa 1729 in Rowan Co, North Carolina and died in 1810. He married Mary Polly Davis on the 18th of July in 1754, in St. George Parish in Baltimore County, Maryland. This is the James Morgan who was a signer of the Regulator Petition, and who's son was the Rev. James Morgan, Jr. who was born in Baltimore Co, Maryland. The Rev. James Morgan, Jr. testified in his Revolutionary War Pension Application #57251, that he was born in Baltimore Co, MD & this fact gives credence to the notion that the 1754 marriage record found in Baltimore Co, MD does belong to his parents. The pension records do not offer proof of the Reverend's parentage, but the couple was named in the memoir of his nephew, Enoch Parr, who states that his maternal grandparents were James Morgan and Molly Davis. Parr further describes entering his Uncle James Morgan's ( James Morgan, Jr) school once he turned 5 years old. This fact is significant in properly identifying the family, because James, Jr. does make reference in his application to his years as a teacher. The Parr manuscript glues and binds the Morgan genealogy together.

And:James Morgan was in Baltimore County, Maryland before 1737, at which time it appears that he married Elizabeth Walker. He had one son by his first wife - John Permenta Morgan, b. 12 Feb 1738. There may have been other children, but no record has been found for them.
