Susannah Alderman was born on March 14, 1795 in Duplin County, North Carolina, daughter of David and Jemima (Hall) Alderman.

In the Alderman family, she is the sister of Jemimia (1773), Daniel (1774), Nancy Ann (1775), Phoebe (1783), Rachel (1787), Samuel M (1792), Rebecca (1793), Susannah (1795), William C. (1798) and James (1801) Alderman.

She married William Bland. Their children include Gemima Alderman (1815), James William (1817), Daniel (1818), David (1820), Hiram L. (1823), Timothy (1823), Edith "Eady" Ada (1829), Safronia "Flonnie" (1831), Sarah Jane (1833) and William (1835) Bland. In 1873, she was preceded in death by her husband.

In 1880, Susannah (Alderman) Bland, age 85, died in Bulloch County, GA, with burial in Bland Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.
