SYMON JACOBSE VAN WINKLE

  • He was born c. 1653 at Pavonia in Bergen Township, in the Dutch Colony of New Jersey, now Bergen County, NJ and was baptized 24 Aug 1653 in New York City. On 15 Dec 1675 at the RDC in Bergen he was married by R Van Giesen to ANNATJE ARIANSE SIP of New York.(58.45,46; 77:1) She was born c. 1657.

After his marriage he is referred to as "Van Winkle", the first to really use the name.(77:l) They belonged to the Reformed Dutch Church They lived in Acquackanonk (now in?, Essex County, NJ) where Symon was one of the original partners of the Acquakanonck Patent. Symon died cl732, his will was proved 24 Feb Annatje died in 1723.
