About Thomas Jefferson Evans
A Patriot of the American Revolution for VIRGINIA with the rank of PRIVATE. DAR Ancestor # A037719
There are several entries on Thomas Evans, son of Robert Evans & Mary Hoge, on Familysearch.com and the RootsWeb's World Connect Project. Most of these entries appear to have used the same source for their information, and the majority agree on a c1762 Botetourt Co., VA birth year, a 9/2/1829 Washington Co., IN date of death, and a 9/15/1789 Botetourt Co., VA marriage to Ann/Anne Crow/Crowe. Winslowtree.com gives a 10/2/1829 DOD and pre 1770 DOB and also lists all 12 of his children with birth years (some exact dates). This site also has a copy of Robert Evans' will which names Thomas and siblings in what appears to be birth order. Several sites, vagenweb.org/wise/HSpubl17.htm for example, provide a retelling of a portion of The Captives of Abb's Valley including Thomas Evans' rescue of sister Martha. There are a couple of sites (kykinfolk.com & web.pdx.edu) and possibly more, that identify a Thomas Jefferson Evans as the son of Robert Evans and Mary Hoge but he has a 1747 birthdate, and the names of his siblings do not match Robert Evans' will. Web.pdx.edu. states that the names of his parents are not known but there is some circumstantial evidence that his father's name may have been Robert.
