"Garmonsway, Thomas, 1843-1918 Born at Stockport Barracks in Lancashire, England on 12 June 1843. Thomas enlisted in the 2nd Waikato Militia from Howick on 20 August 1863 and served during the New Zealand Wars, receiving a Crown Grant at Alexandra. Thomas and Albertina Meyer (1863-1940) married at Te Awamutu on 14 August 1880. Thomas died in Pāterangi at the age of 75 on 23 June 1918. He was buried in Pāterangi Cemetery."
