About Thomas Challis Gooch

A book called "Allen's Indian Mail" from 1846 June 27th referencing the United Service Gazette mentions that "Thomas Challis Gooch" was a mate on a steamship called the "Mooz Uffer" headed for Bombay.

A separate book says
" ... the Indian navy steam frigate, the 'Moozuffer', was in miserable condition ... "
regarding a journey from Egypt to Calcutta in 1847.

The steamship Moozuffer can be found several times on Google. Steam driven paddles on the sides of the ship.
