Thomas Healy

Thomas Healy was one of 5 brothers to emigrate to America, leaving wife and 3 children behind in Cork Ireland never to be seen or heard of again, Thomas was employed as an ward attendant in the New York State Menta; Hospital, at Central Islip, New York. There is no reason to believe that Thomas was in touch with his 4 brothers who also emigrated to the USA, some of them living in New York too.

Thomas Healy was born on August 16, 1897 and died on September 01, 1968 as we expect that Thomas was buried at Potter's Field a paupers grave in New York. He last resided in New York, New York in New York County.

Two years after his death Thomas's wife who still lived in Cork wrote a letter to the Irish consul in New York asking for help to find Thomas as her health was deteriorating , not aware that Thomas had died two years earlier, the letter was forwarded to his brother William in Westchester New York who was not able to give any information about Thomas also unaware that Thomas had passed away.

I was born August 6, 1897 at Mallow, Cork, Ireland, my wife Bridget was born August 26, 1901 at Mallow, we were married July 27, 1921 and have children; Robert, August 6, 1922; Mary, April 21, 1924?; Nora, March 14, 1926, all born in Mallow and reside there. I emigrated from Queenstown, Ireland on the ship Westphalia and arrived New York November 25, 1926.
