About Thomas Hill
William Hill (1515-1594) married first about 1540, Anne, daughter of John Trowbridge of Colyton, Devonshire; she died about 1560; he married second, about 1563, Lucy, daughter of John Ryves of Dorset.
Children by second wife:
xiii. THOMAS, b. about 1568; lived in Chard, where he d. in 1629 probably unmarried. His will, dated Nov. 20, 1628, gives to cousins (i. e. nephews) John Hill and Jonathan Hill, yeomen of Chaffcombe, sons of brother John, 10L each, and 5L more to each on marriage; cousin (i. e. niece) Anne Hill, dau. of brother Benjamin, 5L; to the poor of Pitminster 10s.; residue to friend Thomas Legg of Chard who was executor. [Wells Reg.] [This Thomas Legg of Chard was also intimate with John and Walter Deane of Chard who came to New England, being a witness and overseer of the will of their father William Deane in 1634.]
