Thomas Howell was born about 1635 in Haxleston, County of Stafford, England; resided Tamworth, Co. Warwick, England. He married about 1659 in Haxleston, Katharine, whose surname is not known; she was born about 1639 in Haxleston. Thomas embarked, 31 Aug. 1682, at Deal, England on the ship "Welcome" with sons (and daughters ? ~• OTHER ACCOUNTS SAY NO DAUGHTERS ), arriving at new Castle "on the Delware" on 27 Oct. 1682. William Penn was also on board the ship. Katharine did not accompany Thomas to America; she came to America after 1687. .(...) Thomas must have died before 8 Mar. 1687 on the N. Side of Cooper's Creek in Waterford (now Delaware) Twp., NJ; his will was probated at Gloucester (now Camden) Co., NJ on 1 Nov. 1687. Katharine died between 17 Aug. 1695, when her will was dated, and 4 Oct. 1695 when her will was probated at Philadelphia, PA. Thomas was a Proprietor and Planter of large areas of land in New Jersey. He and Katharine had (at least) 5 children all born in Haxleston, England."
