Thomas was born in 1709, to John Mills II and Rachel (Bates) Mills in Pennsylvania. He died on September 10, 1793, in North Carolina.

He married Elizabeth Harrold on April 18, 1730, in Virginia.
Thomas Mills, son of John Mills, was born into a Quaker family about 1709 in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
He married Elizabeth Harrold on June 18, 1730 at the New Garden Monthly Meeting in Chester County.
This union produced many children.

He moved with his family from Pennsylvania to Virginia in 1740, joining Henrico Monthly Meeting, and then Hopewell Monthly Meeting in 1742, along with his brothers Hur and Henry.
He soon after moved to North Carolina, where he became a member of New Garden Monthly Meeting.

He was disowned in 1760 by New Garden Monthly Meeting for having a physical relationship with his brother Hur's daughter, Charity Mills Charity Dillon.
Elizabeth remained with him until her death in 1771.
He died at an old age in 1793 and his death was noted by the Deep River MM.

New Garden records show that Charity, daughter of Hur Mills, married at New Garden in 1786 Peter Dillon, who was born in 1725.
That means that she had regained her membership in Quaker Church, but the loss of the New Garden Monthly Meeting women's minutes before 1790 makes it impossible to know when.
Charity was still living when Peter Dillon made his will in 1796, which Benoni Mills Benoni Mills witnessed.
