About Thomas Read, of Sudbury
Thomas Read was a prominent citizen of Sudbury. He was early appointed one of the tything-men, and in 1677 he was one of the persons to whom the town gave leave to build a saw mill upon Hop Brook. His place at Lanham was for many years in the family, and his descendants have been widely scattered and useful citizens.
