Thomas Sanders aka Saunders was born on October 15, 1735, in Goochland, Virginia, Henrico County, Virginia, United States.
Thomas married Mary Mitchell Sanders on October 11, 1761, in Halifax, Virginia, United States. Together they had the following children: Judith Moseley.
He died on November 28, 1812, in Davidson County, Tennessee, USA, Davidson County, TN, United States and was buried in Warrenton, Fauquier County, Virginia, United States of America.

Will of Thomas Sanders, deceased To my beloved wife Mary Sanders all my property both real and personal and at her death to be divided among the following, to my granddaughter Amanda Clay, a negro girl named Sophia, to be delivered when she arrives at lawful age or marries, to my daughter Martha Trigg four negroes, namely, Lucy, Jenny, Caroline and Mary also my riding horse, to my four daughters Elizabeth Jones, Salley Watson, Polley Moseley, and Judith Moseley and my son Edward Sanders, five pounds of Virginia money each. To my son James, my negro man named Will. To my son Frances Sanders all the residue of my whole both real and personal except two negroes named George and Rose which I do set free. I appoint my sons James Sanders and Francis Sanders my executors. This 26 Jan 1812. Wit: Nathaniel Sanders and Meridith Wilkerson.

His brother was, Col. James Saunders who Represented Orange Co NC in the Provincial Congress of 1776 ...
James Saunders was born c.1733 in Middlesex County, VA, and he died in 1825 in Caswell County, NC. He is not known to have married. He was elected to the 4th NC Provincial Congress from Orange County in April of 1776. Three of his brothers are said to have served in the American Revolution - Thomas, William, and Richard. James Saunders was Sheriff of Caswell County 1785-1787.'
