About Thomas Stowe, Sr.

There is an error in Families of Early Milford, which gives this Thomas (m. Mary Griggs)'s father as William, brother of John Stow, of Roxbury. William did have a son Thomas, about whom I found no more information, so he likely dead ended.

The other sources, including NEGHS, conclude that Thomas was the son of John of Roxbury and his wife.

------------------------------------------------------------

Became a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Boston in 1638. In 1648, he moved to Concord and owned a farm of 666 acres with his brother Samuel. He preached at Middletown for several years before there was a church. There was apparently some problem between him and the town, as he was relieved of that duty by the General Court in October 1660. In 1670, he got a grant of land from the town on the condition that he build a house there.
