Valentine Akers was the son of Blackburn Akers Sr and wife Susannah Blackburn. He was born in 1762 in Buckingham Co., Virginia and died before 1840 in Floyd Co., Kentucky. He married Frances Branham c.1784 in Montgomery Co., Virginia. Francis Branham was born on 3 February 1770 in Virginia. She was the daughter of David Branham , Sr and Frances Baskett. Francis Branham died before 1860 in Floyd County, Kentucky. Nine known children. DAR A 205563, Patriotic Service, Soldier, Virginia.
A book written by descendants about the family, A westward journey : the Akers from Virginia to Washington, by Ronald Akers, claims that Valentine fought in the American Revolutionary War. By the early 1800's, Valentine and older brother Solomon have relocated to Floyd County, Kentucky, to take advantage of lands granted to veterans of that war.
