About Ville Airola
Ville Airola was a widely known and popular singer, orchestra leader and theatre director working with Finnish socialist organizations in Thunder Bay area. In 1924-26 he was theatre director in the FOC Hall in Sudbury.
He was a pioneer homesteader in Intola, with a tiny lot by the cemetery and the Co-Op store (Chronicle, p. 74,75,79)

The death occurred in McIntyre Township, Friday, January 3, of William Airola, a resident of McIntyre for upwards of twenty years. Mr. Airola was well-known throughout the district. He was a composer of music and talented band director. He was fifty-eight years old and is survived by his wife and two daughters, Pearl and Katherine. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the family home to the Community Hall where public service was held. "Abide With Me" and other hymns were sung by the choir and a male quartette. A ten-piece orchestra played during the service. The funeral was attended upwards of 200 and 125 attended from Port Arthur and Fort William. Burial was in the Intola Cemetery and the pallbearers were as follows; John Maki, John Polibenan, Oscar Bloom, Sr., Oscar Bloom, Jr., and Messrs. Kusispa and Hospicka.

The funeral of the late William Airola of McIntyre, who died Friday January 3, was held yesterday afternoon from the family home to Intola community hall. Interment was made in the Intola Cemetery. The funeral was well attended by many friends and relatives. A favorite hymn "Abide With Me" was sung. The late Mr. Airola was well known to many. He was a member of many Finnish organizations and was also a composer of music. Besides his widow he is survived by two daughters, Pearl and Katie. The pallbearers were; John Maki, John Polivenn, Oscar Blom, Sr., Oscar Blom, Jr., A. Kusisca and O. Kosticks.
