Walter N. Hoover, 78, of 1737 Main St., East Earl, died unexpectedly Friday, September 19, 2008 in Greenwich, OH.

Born in East Earl, PA he was the son of the late John N. and Ada (Nolt) Hoover. He was married 55 years on January 29 to Alice W. (Leid) Hoover.

Walter was a farmer retiring in 1988. After his retirement he worked as a blacksmith in Churchtown. He was a member of the Churchtown Old Order Mennonite Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are ten children, Loretta H., married to Irvin H. Zimmerman, Lawrence H., married to Elva Jane (Burkholder) Hoover, and Lavina H., married to Joseph M. Hurst all of Ohio, Martha H., married to Rufus B. Kilmer of Missouri, Mark H., married to Mary Ella (Brubacher) Hoover of Wisconsin, Walter H., married to Elaine (Newswanger) Hoover, and Wilma H., married to Frank M. Hoover both of New York, Warren H., married to Mary Ellen (Shirk) Hoover, Mabel H. and Mary Alice H. Hoover all of East Earl; 59 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Esther, married to Aaron Hoover of Leola; a brother, Isaac N., married to Miriam (Shirk) Hoover of Missouri; two half brothers, Henry M. Hoover of New Holland, and Ivan M., married to Mary (Eberly) Hoover of Shippensburg; and three half sisters, Fannie M. Elizabeth M. and Eva M. Hoover all of New Holland.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 9 am at the late home with further services at 9:30 am at the Churchtown Mennonite Church with the Bishop Ben F. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the late home on Monday 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers.
