Also had huge slave holdings for such a small, young family: 9 male and seven female slaves. Male slaves were one under age 10, 4 ages 10-24 and 2 ages 24-36; while they had 1 female slave under 10, 2 ages 10-24 and 4 ages 24-36. This shows that this William Arledge had great wealth, since he had a large investment in slaves as property. Neighbors were Tatum and Irwin families; Jesse Ivy a few houses down.
