About William Horatio Goodlad Brown, Convict "Admiral Gambier and Aeolus" 1808

William was convicted of Bigamy on 13/5/1807 - married to Rebecca whilst still married to Maria.

He was the schoolmaster at Kissing Point (Ryde) from 1812 to 1814. His recommendation for the position was made by Rev Samuel Marsden. He succeeded Matthew Hughes (1799-1810) and William Henry (1810-1811). A 30 acre farm (John Jones grant) was purchased by the Orphan's Fund to support the school.
