After the war he settled in Spartanburg County, S.C. probably along with his brothers, sisters and parents. It was there that he married Elizabeth Smith. In l804 they migrated to Livingston County, Kentucky and later living in Caldwell and Hopkins County, Ky. He built and operated the first grist mill in Caldwell County in 1810. His first wife died between 1820 and 1826 in Hopkins County, KY.
