Research status as of 13 Oct 2016
14. William Miller (1671 – 1726), son of Simon Miller (1642 – 1683), and his wife Mary (Long) Miller (1695 – 1726), daughter of Henry Long, Sr. (1650 – 1733) died in 1726 leaving orphaned children. William Miller (1671 – 1726) and his wife Mary (Long) Miller (1695 – 1726) are believed to have been the parents of Mary (Miller) Kenton (1714 – 1807). One of the witnesses to William Miller’s last will and testament was his brother-in-law Bloomfield Long (1686 – 1763), brother of Mary Long. In his last will and testament, William Miller left his land to his two elder sons Simon and Benjamin Miller, and he also mentioned other sons, and “all my children.” William Miller’s brother John Miller (1673 – 1743) (father of Isabella above) became the guardian of Benjamin Miller. The records of this guardianship show that John Miller utilized the property of Benjamin Miller. Whether or not the orphaned Benjamin Miller and his siblings lived with their uncle John Miller is unknown at this time. Related to his use of young Benjamin Miller’s property, John Miller owed money to the estate of Benjamin Miller when he died at a young age. Those records also show involvement of Daniel Gaines, and thus an ongoing relationship between the Gaines family and the Miller family.
17. William Miller (1671 – 1726), son of Simon Miller (1642 – 1683) is listed as “descendants unknown” in early research of the descendants of Simon Miller. William Miller died quite young, and many of his descendants moved westward, which tended to break the connection to the part of the family that remained on the eastern seaboard. Many families lost track of their pioneer cousins after they went west, and this appears to have been the case in this branch of the Miller tree.
18. William Miller (1671 – 1726) and his wife Mary (Long) Miller (1695 – 1726) were the parents of Mary (Miller) Kenton (1714 – 1807), and other children, including John Miller (1725 – 1820). The quest for additional proof continues.
