4 June 1565: Instrument of sasine given by Hugh, Earl of Eglinton, Lord Montgomery to Hew Montgomery of Hessilhead of the two merks of land of old extent of the lands of Mekill Dregarn called Loch; which lands had been apprised from John Montgomery, son and heir of deceased Arthur Montgomery of Stane by Hugh Montgomery who was grandson and heir of deceased Hugh Montgomery of Hessilhead his grandfather for the sum of 200 merks Scots and for the sum of 10 merks. Witnesses: William Montgomery, brother german of the said Earl, Robert Crawfurd of Clolynan, Robert Fergushill of that ilk, William Montgomery, brother german of Hugh Montgomery of Hessilhead and others.
