He did not leave Ireland, but following his death, his widow took her so ns and removed to North America in 1732. Note: May Thompson Williamson sta tes that the family came in 1717. This would contradict some birth record s. It may be that the entire family did not come together as previously th ought but rather may have arrived at separate times. JCT 2/10/2000
According to Thompson Researcher John Yanik Jr., the data I had previous ly is one generation off. According to his information this William is mo st likely the son of William. I am therefore correcting the data to refle ct his information, although the initial data in the book "Our William Tho mpson" did not reflect this. JCT 12/29/1999
