Family

From http://thorn.pair.com/thorn/thornlineage/WilliamThorne1.htm

2. William Thorne was born about 1636 in Lynn, Essex, MA. He died about 1699 in New York. Presumably in Hempstead, LI, NY

He was married to Winnifred Linnington (daughter of Henry Linnington) on 4 Sep 1662. Winnifred Linnington died in 1713. She was buried on 20 Feb 1713 in Grace Church, Flushing. William Thorne and Winnifred Linnington had the following children:

+7 i. William Thorne.

+8 ii. John Thorne.

+9 iii. Elizabeth Thorne.

+10 iv. Hannah Thorne.

11 v. Denton Thorne was born about 1673. He died about 1698.

+12 vi. Richard Thorne.

+13 vii. Sarah Thorne.

14 viii. Abraham Thorne was born about 1681. The name of Abraham Thorne appears on the muster roll of Capt Joshua Cornell's, Dutchess Co., militia.

+15 ix. Margaret Thorne.

+16 x. Joseph Thorn.

Some claim that Sarah Denton was the mother of the Thorne children, but this has been disproved by many genealogists. The only proof was a son named Denton. However, there are many documents claiming Susannah Booth as the mother of all the children. This includes some of the children naming their children after her. No real proof gives evidence to Thorne having married Denton at all.
