Ralph Faulkner's company, 5th Virginia regiment, commanded by Col. Josiah Parker. He was born in Dinwiddie County, Va.; died in Jasper County, GA. 20) "Gone to GA" p.377 TRAYLER (TRAYLOR): Sometimes confused with TAYLOR. The George W. TRAYLOR listed in Allen's district of Jackson Co., 1827, may have been TAYLOR. William TRAYLOR was in Amelia Co., VA, 1741, associated with the WALLER family later in Brunswick, Lunenburg, Charlotte and Halifax Counties, VA. The TRAYLOR family is subsequently found in these counties and Chesterfield Co., VA. William TRAYLOR was in Wilkes County, GA, as early as Oct. 5, 1784, when he was an appraiser of the estate of Abner FERGUSON. William died c1791, and on Aug. 7, 1791, Thomas TRAYLOR was appointed administrator of his estate. (There may be no connection, but one Thomas TRAYLOR m. Phoeba FARGISON in Halifax Co., VA, July 13, 1786). Will TRAYLOR of Wilkes County left orphans Edward, who chose Oct. 31, 1792, Randolph TRAYLOR as his guardian; Mary who chose John BANKS; Frances who chose James BROOKS, who also was appointed by the court guardian of Milly TRAYLOR. (William TRAYLOR and John BANKS and Rachel BROOKS were neighbors in Halifax Co., VA, 1782. The appearance of the name DUNSTON in both the BANKS and TRAYLOR families and other inconclusive data indicates a connection between these families). Randolph TRAYLOR was living in Wilkes Co., GA, Jan. 3, 1787 when Robert FERGUSON of Guilford Co., NC, sold land on Long Creek, probably in the part of Wilkes that became Oglethorpe Co., to William TRAYLOR. By January, 1797, Randolph was living in Jackson County, and in 1799 he was head of a district, while Travis C. TRAYLOR owned a farm originally granted to John HOLLINGSHEAD on Beach Creek in Aaron Wood's district. In 1805, T. Champion TRAYLOR (perhaps same as Travis C.) was listed in the Jackson lottery. The will of Paschal TRAYLOR (Oglethorpe County, Will Book A, p. 87, Aug. 2, 1799/torn 1800) named his wife Milly (Milly Angle, m. July 6, 1795), son Reubin and an expected child. His wife, and Randolph and Edward TRAYLOR (Jr.?) were named executors; witnesses were William TRAYLOR, JAMES BROOKS, and Champion T. TRAYLOR. In 1820, Richard was in Greene County; John, M.B. and William were in Jasper County; and Edward, James, John S., and William TRAYLOR in Putnam County, GA. In 1827, Dunston and Paschal TRAYLOR were in Oglethorpe; William H. in Jasper; and Lucy, widow of a Revolutionary soldier, in Upson County. Orphaned by 4 Oct 1754. Guardian is Robert Cousins.
