Emigrated to America using the name William Joki. Traveled through Göteborg, Sweden aboard SS Stockholm of the Scandinavian American Line. Arrived single at Ellis Island on August 7th 1923 [Passenger Arrival Lists, Ellis Island].

Got back to Finland with his family, staying with his brother Niilo, between 1933-1934.

Lived with his family in Assembly District 20, Manhattan, New York City [US Census 1930, 1940]. Address Manhattan, New York City 1942, date of birth September 18th 1896 [US World War II Draft Registration Cards].

Moved with his family to Worcester, Massachusetts in 1942, had a farm with dairy cattle and chicken in Rutland. Later on lived at Turkey Hill Shores.
