BLAZON OF ARMS: Argent two bars gules in chief three martlets sable. TRANSLATION: Argent (white), signifies Peace and Sincerity. Sable (black) denotes Constancy. Gules (Red) denotes Military Fortitude and Magnanimity. The Martlets are birds which are depicted without legs and they indicate one who subsists on Wings of Virtue and Merit.

CREST: A hedgehog passant gules.

REFERENCE: This exists in Burke's Peerage and is being researched now.

Similarities between the Weedon / Weeden Coat of Arms, and that of George Washington There are obvious similarities between the Coats of Arms of George Washington (L) and the Weedon / Weeden family (R):

Although traditionally this arms style has been attributed to Northamptonshire, we can find no heraldic or historical references which specifically state or show this to be the case. It is certain that Washington's ancestors immigrated to the Royal Colony of Virginia from Northamptonshire (specifically from Sulgrave Manor, just 4.2 miles west of Lois Weedon).

The Weedon family is from Northamptonshire, and the American Branches did emigrate from this County to both Virginia and the Colony of Rhode Island. Nevertheless, Wikipedia 'categorically' states that George Washington's Coat of Arms is connected with North-East England, around Sunderland?!? Again, we must consult Burke's Peerage to - hopefully - obtain an answer. .
