The cemetery was established in 1878 on land donated by two pioneers – George Howison and William Nelson. Each man donated a quarter of an acre at the back of their properties near the Dewdney Trunk with a 10 foot road allowance to run between the cemetery and River Road to the south where the Methodist Church was located.
The two trees at the gate were planted by Frank Harris, another land owner who sold part of his land to the cemetery.
No records of interment were kept until 1897. Many records were lost in a flood that occurred in 1950.
The cemetery is located on 21404 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge, Greater Vancouver Regional District, British Columbia.
