A large amount of the Mudrovčić immigrant ancestors came from a picturesque town named Novi Vinodolski.

At one stage in Novi's history, the Mudrovčić family was one of three prominent families in the region.

  • Mudrovčić Majer, Konstantin (08.08.1877 ~ 30.03.1939) born in Novi Vinodolski, Croatia, emigrated to South Africa in 1896 aboard the Doune Castle originally as a miner. Eventually came to Durban, Natal and worked as a sail maker for the South African Railways between 1902 - 1908, then again as 1st Class Sailmaker for South African Railways & Harbours from 1910 - 1932. He was married to a South African woman of Mauritian descent and fathered 9 children.
  • Mudrovcic, Karlo (unknown) born in Croatia Littoral, emigrated to South Africa and eventually settled in Johannesburg, Transvaal. He probably arrived 16.7.1904 aboard the Tintagel Castle destined for Cape Town, South Africa.
  • Mudrovcic, Dobrotin (unknown) of Novi Vinodolski, Croatia emigrated to Swakopmund, South-West Africa (Namibia) on a hamburg passenger vessel, Professor Woermann, from Cuxhaven, Germany. His occupation was listed as a mason.
  • Mudrovcich, Ivan (25.12.1904 ~ 29.04.1964) of Yugoslavia (probably Croatia) naturalized in South Africa on 22.12.1950. His occupation is listed as a mason in 1950, however he later became a pumpman. He was married to Marija Piskulic and they lived the majority of their time in Johanessburg, Transvaal, South Africa.

  • Mudrovcich, Jack (1887 ~ 18.5.1979). born in Dalmatia, Croatia (listed as Yugoslavia in 1979) emigrated to New Zealand and settled in Auckland. There is a police offence record for him which states that he was fined £5 for obsene language and wilful damage (26.7.1926) in New Plymouth, New Zealand.
  • Mudrovcic, Mala (unknown) emigrated to Australia as an unassisted immigrant with an occupation listed as Domestic Labourer aboard the vessel named Oldenburg of Bremen (Germany) via Melbourne to Sydney on 30.05.1896.
  • Mudrovcic, Timotej (27.01.1909 ~ ) born in Novi Vinodolski, Croatia, emigrated to Australia and eventually settled in Coolgardie, Western Australia. An interesting news article from 1928 mentions how he was unpaid and his employee-rights were being abused (read here). Later, he enlisted in the Australian Army Citizens Military Force during WWII. His military serial number is listed as W400187 and next of kin was transcribed as Antonio Mudrovcic. He naturalized on 14-05-1946 with his residence noted as, 17 Nairn-street, Fremantle, Western Australia (view here) ref: Commonwealth of Australia Gazette (National : 1901 - 1973) Thu 8 Aug 1946 [Issue No.145], Page 2128,CERTIFICATES OF NATURALIZATION.
  • Mudrovic, Mate (11.04.1914 ~ 10.12.1954) born in Novi Vinodolski, Croatia, emigrated to Auckland, New Zealand and naturalized 22.09.1938. His occupation was known as a carpenter. His wife's name was Elizabeth. He was the father of Mary, Helen and Drina.
  • Mudrovčić Majer, Ivan-Alfabert (15.12.1887 ~ 18.5.1979) born in Novi Vinodolski, Croatia emigrated to Auckland, New Zealand to be closer with his son.
  • Mudrovcich Majer, Ivan Albert (17.4.1938 ~ 20.7.2018) was born in Croatia. Later in his life, he immigrated to New Zealand and was a mechanic but more importantly he became well-known for his contributions to the Pearse Aircraft history. For almost over a decade he had been painstakingly building a reproduction of Richard Pearse’s early flying machine in his garage in Kelston, West Auckland. read more about this here

  • Mudrovčić Majer, Milan (11.10.1905 ~ 7.4.1933) was born in Novi Vinodolski to Dobrotin Mudrovčić Majer and Marija Sokolić Vlašika. He emigrated to Peru and lived there until his passing in 1933.

  • Mudrovcic, John (not known) Probably born in Novi Vinodolski, Croatia emigrated to the United States from Fiume, Croatia in 1900 and resided in Montana from 1910 until at least 1921. He was naturalized before the second district county of Silver Butte in Montana on 04.12.1916 (DDMMYY). Records suggest that John was isued a business permit and thus moved to Belgium for business opportunities in 1921 with his wife.
  • Mudrovcic, Slavko (1880 - unknown) born in Novi Vinodolski, Croatia (listed as Austria) emigrated to the United States from Cherbourg, France on the vessel, "St. Paul" arrived at the port of New York on 10.10.1909. He was married to Slavica who was also from Novi and was residing in Croatia at the time of his naturalization. His occupation listed in 1919 was that of a miner.
  • Mudrovic, Robert Bozidar (25.12.1892 ~ 8.11.1969) born in Novi Vinodolski, Croatia (listed as Novi, Hungary) emigrated to the United States of America on 30.09.1907 aboard the vessel, Francesca which departed from Trieste. He received his naturalization on 13.06.1919 in Missouri. He was married to Anna Beljik in Croatia. In 1942, his occupation was with the American Manganese Steel Foundry until he was drafted for WWII.
